I just started working on a song from scratch, got this sound from Pro-53, banged out some minimalistic intro melody, and i noticed that it crackles and pops and sounds really dirty. it happens usually in the exact same place, right after the very first note, and the sound gets carried on by the delay. ive tried eliminating the lows...16 - 20hz, doesnt do anything. i fucked around with the EQ. nothing. i tried softening up the attack, nothing. i eased up the lfo freq. Nothing. what can i do to get this crackle out of there. you might have to turn it up a bit, its not VERY noticable with the sound very low.

im definatly not the most technical person around, so forgive me if i dont make...alot of sense, or this is an easy question to answer.

well can't listen to your sample because it gives an error...but how is yoru cpu load when recording this sample? how is your disk usage when recording this sample?..could be that your sound card gets out of sync and then starts to jitter, or could be that your using too much cpu and therefore experiencing the crackles. What platform are you using..Cubase? what sound card do you have? what computer do you have? Does the crackling happen only when recording or all the time? If so then try using Pro-53 standalone and playing the patch and see if you still get the crackling...this will indicate, if you do not get crackling, that either your card gets out of sync or your cpu load is too high. Also using a P3 500-700 will probably give you a CPU clip when playing mutiple chord in sucsession. For now try it in standalone mode...if you dont know how then just select pro53 from your start menu and it will load up. You have to select yoru midi device within Pro53 standalone before you can actually play any keys or you can just click on the key with the mouse. Use the same chords in yoru sample to try this.

Mate, I listened to the sample and couldn't make out any noticable crackling.

The crackle and pop sounds are generally either a result of CPU overload or latency issues. Check to make sure you have the correct ASIO driver set up in your host and that when running, your CPU usage does not blow out. When you export, these sounds don't come up in the mix because the host no longer has to work to a tempo and can take longer to get it all out.
