The Best Cart under 100 USD

Sorry guys, I know its such a noob question. Not too long ago, I've brought 2 Shure M35x, and one of the needle broke during a friend's birthday party. There seem to be a debate between Shures and Ortofon Carts. I want to know what is the best under 100 dollars from your honest opinion.

Thanks alot.

i honestly like my sure M44G more than my Whitelables. They track very well, low cue-burn, and still sound pretty good. I got mine for $40 ea.

I think you'll have a difficult time getting an Ortofon for under $100, unless you buy one of the OM carts.

You can find a Shure Whitelabel on ebay for around 73 - 80 bucks, new-in-the-box.

As for comparing the two, that is an age old battle my friend! And you'll hear a million different reasons why one is better than the other.

My suggestion is to do a search in DJ Booth and take what you will from all the info.

I just bought a pair of Whitelabels because, from what I have read, they have a lower wear on records than the Ortos. That is extremely important to me right now.

In the future, perhaps when I start recording sets with intent to put them on cd, I'll probably look at the Ortofons again.

i needed a cheap needle solution a few months ago and ended up with the Shure SC35Cs. overall they are pretty good. they sound a shitload better than most carts in their pricerange. i had a little bit of trouble mounting them, but overall they are very decent.
