Gyah! Gyah GYAH GYAH!
Okay, for a laptop, he probably means multimedia speakers, RIGHT?
Okay, only have one sound out, right? Like, just headphone out, right?
So you want 2.1.
Okay.
Gonna be using them for studio monitoring, or just for throw around? like, pack them up, move your laptop, unpack them when you've got them?
Because most good multimedia speakers a.) need their own power supply, and b.) have a little subwoofer, even though it isn't really a subwoofer, more of an inferior bass module.
ANYWAYS, you want exaggerated bass, or quality sound?
Any size considerations?
And, if you are using them as studio monitors, there's really one set of multimedia speakers to get; they happen to be 2.1, and they also happen to be the best computer speakers on the market. Did I mention they were some of hte most expensive? I think they are $900, but they are professional quality speakers.
They're the Videologic Sirocco Pro's.
However, if you are going to be using speakers for more mundane things, check out stuff by Boston Acoustics, Polk, and Monsoon.
That is, if you want quality (read: not BIG BOOMY BASS HUGE WATTAGE NO CLARITY stuff, like CV's. If you want that with computer speakers, get the Klipsch 2.1's.
