$$How Much$$

Sorry to post this here but I was interested in getting an opinion from producers with experience.

I recently started getting into producing music and EDM. Hoping to one day making a career out of this. I couldnt help but ask myself HOW MUCH ARE PRODUCERS GETTING PAID FOR EDM TRACKS (Trance in general)???

If someone could give me an idea or ball park figure as to how much a single gets, remixes, ablums, etc.. it would be greatly appreciated.

And please dont get into royalities and publishing aspect of it. Im just intereseted in the up front pay.

THX in advance

No, actually Im not in it for the money. I just want to live life doing something I love. Unfortunetly, in order to live in this world you need money (realistically speaking) Here in the U.S. hip hop, pop, and rock producers sometimes make more than the artists. So I was wondering how does it work for EDM and trance in general

It's hard to make a liveable income off dance music unless by a miracle you become a popular club smash worldwide.

Like Luke Terry said, the real money is in gigs: Either playing live concerts or DJing. By all means produce your music, but support yourself with alternate incomes.

Your only chance of making a living out of this would be to get 3-4 smash hits in a short period of time (<1 year), build up some hype, and then try to get a really good DJ agency that can hook you up with some well paying gigs. From there of course you'll have to keep up the momentum, play a lot of flawless sets, and continue producing quality material.

In order to get to this point you're talking about (tens of)thousands of dollars invested in records, dj equipment, production software/hardware.

In other words: don't quit your day job.

I totally agree !
Doing music to make money is not doing music.

^^I second that, the money is in DJing, but you have to be pretty big in that aswell, as if you get a good residency, chances are 90% of the money you earn from it, goes right back into it, I'm glad its like this, keeps people who just want to make fast cash away.
