I know this doesn't help right now, but for future reference, the #1 most important thing you can do is prevention. Take 500 mg Vitamin C every day and if you've been around someone else who's sick, WASH YOUR HANDS, because 9 out of 10 times you'll catch it by rubbing your eyes or eating something with your hands.
If I do finally break down and get a cold, I drink a ton of hot liquid (soup or decaffeinated tea, not coffee or hot chocolate), don't engage in too much physical activity, and most importantly of all get lots of SLEEP! Sleep is the definitive cure for any minor illness - I normally sleep 4-6 hours but when I'm sick, if I can get a good 10 hours for a few days in a row, it's gone after that. In fact, probably the reason people say you should drink a lot of hot liquid is that it helps you sleep better.
Oh, and stay away from milk products within a few hours of going to bed because they create phlegm - during the day it's fine but at night it'll make it way harder to get to sleep.
