John Askew Club Music EP

1) John Askew - Blackout - 8.5/10
2) John Askew - Electraglide(Askew's Stripped Down Mix) - 8/10

Comments anyone?

Both products are extremely good imo, a LOT better than his remix of 2v2 which is what I had last heard from him. The EP is aptly named too as it IS club music and has a distinct club vibe!
Electraglide was on ASOT 162 if I remember correctly? Sounded pretty good back then too.

Hmm, I haven't been very happy with his recent productions, and Askew REALLY needs to change that kickdrum. That it works like a charm in a club is no excuse. Ever since Skylab things just haven't cut it IMO. Will check nevertheless.

i agree, his kick sounds the same all the time, but i really like his approach to his productions: raw, energetic and uplifting at the same time. love the way he uses the melodies playing in the back, focusing more on the kicks and basslines and other crazy noises

will check this one out for sure

Aye, he has made some quality stuff. The way he handled his melodies on Vellum and The Door and his rhythmic sensibilities on Are You Reading Me and New Dimension are good examples of this. His recent productions sound stale though, mostly due to the kickdrum. Hope that changes here.
