My First Day on the Job
well, yesterday was my first day on the job. i had a great convo with the boss at the end, and im definatly in on the job. i even got paid 30 dollars on the spot.
i started 11am - 4pm - 5 hours. it was so busy, i wasnt able to get more than a few seconds for a break, just to take some sips of a sprite. i was sweating my ass off, and running around. the entire place was running around. all the people coming out of church were hungry. i got trained quickly. 1 hour being shown all the entire restaraunt, where everything was, then 1 hour shadowing another busser/waiter, and then i was sent off. i broke one glass when i was walking fast with the bussing cart thing, and some lady just walks in my way, i had to stop really fast and the glasses just spilled over. she looked good, so i didnt mind it. but everybody else saw what happened and she got an embarressing blush on her face.
one bit of advice for restaraunt goers: dont ask for them to turn the AC off, its really hot in the kitchen and for the waiters and bussers who are sweating their asses off, running around n shyt. two people asked me to turn it off, and the manager told me, "tell them to shut there mouths and deal with it." where i asked, "what do i really tell them if they ask again?" then i was told, "tell them, the manager is taking care of it. but dont worry about it next time, they leave soon enough."
i have really down to earth bosses and co-workers. there's really no time to chit-chat until the place is almost closed, but when the day was over and everybodies cleaning up, its just chilled out talk, and people planning their nights away. it surprised me when they started talkin about getting wasted together n shit. i didnt expect that. so, im finding this a really good thing.
