I've a couple of James Holden songs with the name (something) Tool.
Now suddenly I see other tech songs wih tool edits or mixes.
Why Tool? Are they usually used some specific way?

Yeah... just beats you use for mixing. Mainly techno.

lots of older techno records have the song on the a side,and on the b side they have a bunch of locked groove cuts of the original track, essentially being tools for the more creative djs out there.
