A lot of online stores have samples of the vinyl these days. Check the stickies at the top of this page, a lot of vinyl shops there have samples.

aye most have samples. I'd say buy what you know, but if you are like I was when I started you only knew what the popular shit was. venture out and get original tracks, and find your own style so to speak.

I won't buy tracks that I recognize. I base that on the fact that if I actually recognize it, then it means I must have heard it a thousand times. I don't want to be the 1001th dj to spin the record. I buy all my records online. Find a good site and listen to as many records as you possibly can before you buy anything.

For certain tracks you love that you heard in some sets, check the tracklist and then track the record down, but just goto these sites that offer samples and check various tracks to see what you like, ah crap I'm outta herem, I'm way to drunk to be posting anthing that makes sence in the booth.

Ah sorry I misunderstood you. I though you were asking where you could listen first before buying.

As for what I buy, I bought a lot of crap in the past where I didn't listen before buying, expecting to be good due to artist/label etc... but these days there is definately no need to make that mistake.

I generally buy a mix of tracks I know and those that I don't. I am still buying old vinyl too, so most of the time I have heard these.

go to a record shop and start listening to records when you find ones you like note the label down. You'll tend to find that certain labels release a lot of stuff you'll like.

have a look at chemical records or juno, they both offer samples and they both have really good catalogues.
