I have been working on sets and stuff and discovered that a few of my records were skipping. i was wondering if there is anything that i can do to these to save them or if i am just going to have to get new ones?
would appreciate some advice.

are you sure its the record skipping?, if your recording onto your computer it could be the computer playing up due to specification.

Basically just give the wax a good clean... make sure your working with semi-good needles and carts and check that your counterweights are turned in enough

all as above.
however, if your stylus is fucked, putting more weight on will do nothing but fuck your records over. how long have you had the styli? its usually recommended to replace styli approximately every 6-9 months.

if it is about 6-9 months that i have to change the cartriges. i am planing on getting some whitlelabels
i'll try it with more weight on the tonearm too, i thought that is was extremely light and i messed up a few times just because it was too light.
thanks guys!!!

The stylus usually should be changed every 40 hours of use

try adjusting hte anti-skating. I don't know how it works, but sometimes when I have a scratch that makes my record skip and I adjust the anti-skating, its fine.
you are looking at ratings for optimum sound quality in a club. realistically for home use, that is actually bollocks.
you need to change your stylus (note - not cartridge) every 6-9 months. a decent cart should last years.

ya for optium you should change every 40 but i doubt most people can do that nor is it really realistic you won't really hear the difference unless you've got a club set up in your house.
