A Night of Trance: The Review

Finally surfaced..........................................

Well what can I say! After its much anticipated move away from its 'happy' home at ARQ, ANOT was well and truly 'broken in' at its new quaters, SPACE. Having unfortunately missed out on Ruby, I was priveleged enoughed to attend the latest instalment of a 'Josh and friends production' due largely to the kindness of our very own 'mirror man' and as expected, the night provided only the most finely grated cheese you can find on earth or 'Space' for that matter.

The night began relatively slowly (level of 'happiness' was suprisingly very low) however, my trip to the 'restrooms' quickly proved that theory wrong, as one pair of very 'uplifted' males, were giggling and laughing, as they compared the size of their 'man sticks' (talk about being at the right place at the right time). Having witnessed numerous indecencies at previous ANOT, this did not come to my suprise (its like walking into the Midnight shift on Oxford st and being shocked that there are gay guys there). The night progressed nonetheless, as I mingled with a few ta's and talked about some 'good old times', when I saw him, the 'mirror man' in all his glory, however this time the 'mirror vest' was nowhere to be seen (mush to my dismay)! Coming into focus now, I could see (you would have been blind not to have) the 'mirror man' wearing an earpiece the size of one of his plastic toys (Ruby must have been feeling fairly kinky the night before) and appeared to be pacing around the place, like he was conducting some sort co-op mission in Iraq. In waves of panic, like the fate of the world depended on him, the 'mirror man' raced around Space and 'plugged' all the necessary 'holes' to ensure everyone was having a 'happy' time. The 'competancy' in which this mission was 'conducted' could have only been carried out by an individual with 'high expertise', that individual was G-I-JOSH.

As the place warmed up and the troops needed to cool down a little, G-I-JOSH handed out some refreshments in the form of ice blocks. Having 'endured' so much, this was extremely welcomed, as The Thrillseekers proved the theory, that trance and cheese most definitely go hand in hand (hopefully he 'Jumps into a train'). More thought most surely went into an episode of the teletubbies, as 'Kraft' would have been definitely pleased with his performance.

Mark Dynamix continued through the paces as the time neared to the most signicant event in human history (you would think that with all the 'talk' about it). The time when G-I-JOSH (formely 'mirror man') would 'embrace' the decks and play his 'trademark' sound. With his electric violinist (who I must say is extremely hot, tell her Sid says hello josh) the punters literally 'came' at the sound of that initial beat. His technical ability was outstanding (began playing his first track, but I think it was the pitch control that was out of wack or something, so had to take the needle off and start again), mixing incredible (tiesto trainwrecks are softer on the ear) and enthusiasm (love the hand actions, seems like a lot of practice went into them) was a specital matched by none. The 'climax' however was reached by the track which has certainly gained cult status amongst us all, 'Fly Away'. Not since the Backstreet Boys hit 'As long as you love me' has a track encapsulated so many people. Front
and centre, the hands went into the air as we sang 'let me fly, let me fly'. The facial expression on G-I-JOSH was one of elation (yes Yoshi was standing in 'very' close proximity), while the crowd 'begged' for more.

The night thereafter drew to a gradual close ('secret meetings' to be attended too) as ANOT proved once again that not only it is one of the 'biggest' trance nights in Sydney, but certainly one which inspires the most 'happiness'.

Expected a much more in-depth review from the sidmeister but I guess you wanted it short, hard, and to the point Sid

Just to put some images to the words...

Adagio for Strings! What an intro. Alex was awesome on the strings. Somebody mentioned it somewhere, reminded me of "One Perfect Day" (but better, imo).

But for some reason the Tiesto hologram is his face at one angle and a train wreck at another angle...
