I had tons of problems too and I had to uninstall and reinstall messenger. It would set me to random settings and log me in and out. I'm positive that it's related to the upgrade that they did because I didn't have those kinds of problems before that.

i just installed messenger 7 (beta)

so far so good. it lets u login as invisible like yahoo
