Does anyone have any information for this event? Is it even going to happen this year?

however littledetroit.net posted this rather disheartening comment:
"Detroit's massively popular Movement Festival faces a '50-50' chance of being called off this year, after a funding issues yet again threatened its viability.
Event organiser and techno legend Kevin Saunderson told the Detroit Free Press he's hoping to charge admission to the previously free weekend event, and is also now taking control of the event entirely by himself, after erstwhile fellow producer Derrick May pulled out."
Unfortunately, our city leaders in Detroit have been cooking the books for a while and we are broke, in fact 200 million dollars (US)in debt. So it's safe to say the city will do nothing to help fund the event as it has done in years past. There is still a chance that Kevin Saunderson and Derrick May and company might get it together. Lets hope that Detroit will continue to support all of it's musical heritage and give Electronic Music and its suppoters the one weekend it gets out of the myriad of events devoted to Motown and rock.

lets not forget how much they're spending on the upcoming superbowl! I believe there is some law/rule about events at heart plaza being free too. But if it taes a 5-10 dollar cover to attend movement then so be it, the people who really care will be there.

Oh yeah I'll be there this year
I know exactly what "funding issues" they are talking about, because I was at the underground stage last year on Sunday when Derrick May stopped the show to say how there might not be a Movement next year because nobody was financially supporting the event, and everyone should pay a couple dollars to buy the programs for the weekend because he paid thousands of dollars to have them printed and that was the best way we could support the event.
Big thanks out to everyone who devotes themselves to putting such a great event together!

As far as supporting the event, they have the movement merchandise tent too with all kinds of cool shit to buy, i always try to get something... too bad i'm a broke ass college student.
