I used traktor dj with a firewire audiophile interface running into a mixer for a little while, then I ended up buying cd decks, so I don't use it anymore. I tried 'em all (mixing software) and found traktor dj to be the best.

Depends on what kind of computer he has for his setup.

I use DSS DJ.

If he has a new computer with a sound card that has two separate outputs for the speakers(one for front and one for rear) DSS DJ or Traktor DJ Studio are good.

If he doesn't have a sound card that supports those sound options I listed above, then he'll need a new sound card. Sounblaster audigy or extigy will do if you want to spend around $70 - $100. If you dont' want to spend that much on sound cards you can get a cheap USB soundcard and use that with the one already in his computer and prety much only DSS dj will work with that setup.

If you want a more detailed reply just pm me.

WEll well your 'Boyfriend' needs some advice aye. I could teach everyone the master skillz of Traktor DJ!!! I love using it infact I used it for 1.5 years mixing up online a lot. I love how you can have super long transistions and everything can flow super nicely. Infact you can have external mixer!!! HAHAHA :P I was thinking of hooking up a USB DM2 to traktor DJ with an external mixer and control the pitch that way as well to make it harder and something else to learn in the prossess. How about I come down and DJ with Traktor and tear it up for a session or two in the studio you and Commisad have :P. I just love mp3s that are legit as well. Gotta buy'em up now days. I plan on purchasing your latest mp3 that Commisad told me about. Who knows I might just get the chance to mix it up in Traktor DJ for you guys some day live in person.
Traktor DJ is by far the best because it has super awsome loops filters and eq's but the eq's are not worth anything if you can hook up an external mixer like I DO!! I found that mixing mp3s up for 1.5 years really made a huge difference in my mixing on vinyl. This is because I am a super crack addict for beat matching now. The perfect beat maching with mp3 software totally owns the Turntables like no other. Also I can dooo so much more with Traktor dj than with turntables but I do love vinyl :P "Lick lick" ohj yeah . . . well Hopefully I will get a chance to come down to Vancouver some time and tear it up on the decks and Traktor dj with you guys some time.

PEACE!!!
