Nick Carter, (Paris' X factor) Backstreet Boy, was caught today in California drinking and driving! What a disappointment -

not only is he abusive he is a drunk!!!

Backstreet Boy Nick Carter has been arrested on the suspicion of drunk driving.

Police in Huntington Beach, California said Carter was driving on Saturday night when police stopped him for a traffic violation. When sobriety tests were made at the site they came to the conclusion Carter was under the influence of alcohol.

Police say they arrested Carter on suspicion of drunk driving, impounding his vehicle.

Carter's publicist issued a statement on Monday saying: “Nick Carter deeply regrets the current situation. He is on doctor-prescribed medication and was unaware of its interaction possibilities.”

The band recently announced a new tour, due to start later this month, it is unlikely this will effect the dates; though it is usual for drunk driving cases to appear in court within about 45 days.

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - Backstreet Boy Nick Carter was arrested for refusing to follow police officers' orders to leave a nightclub after a fight broke out.

The youngest of the five-member group at age 21, Carter was charged on Wednesday with a misdemeanor count of resisting/opposing a law enforcement officer without violence. He was handcuffed, placed in a squad car and released on his own recognizance.

His first court appearance is set for March 4, Tampa Police spokesman Joe Durkin said Thursday.

Police were called to the Pop City nightclub early in the evening Wednesday because of a fight. They returned to the nightclub later in the night to break up another disturbance. While officers made arrests and tried to restore peace, Carter became involved in an argument with a woman, according to the arrest affidavit.

He was told to leave the nightclub more than 10 times until officers told him to leave by ``the count of 3'' or he would be arrested. Carter continued the argument and was arrested, the arrest affidavit said.

Carter, who lives outside Tampa, is the second Backstreet Boy to experience personal trouble in recent months. In July, A.J. McLean spent time at a rehabilitation center for depression and alcohol abuse, forcing the group to postpone its U.S. and Canadian tour. McLean, who turns 24 next week, has said he's been sober ever since.

(andPOP) - Backstreet Boy Nick Carter is in trouble with the law again. This time, Carter was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence in Southern California on Saturday.

He was stopped by police for violating a traffic law in Huntington Beach, police said. He then underwent a sobriety test.

He was booked for investigation of DUI. His car was impounded.

Carter was released just four hours later. He is to appear before a court within 45 days.

A statement released by Carter's publicist claimed Carter was not drunk.

"He is on doctor-prescribed medication and was unaware of its interaction possibilities," read the statement.

In 2002, Carter was arrested at a Florida nightclub for refusing police orders.
