Dunno Sasha's Involver track arrangement question

I've been listening to Involver a lot and I love the CD. I've been studying his track selection and why he arranged the tracks the way he did. There's no question Sasha is an absolute master at what he does but after listening to his CD I have one question.

Track 1 (Grandnational - Talk Amongst Yourselves) and 2 (Shpongle - Devon Perception) starts a really nice groove and mood. And then track 3 (Petter - These Days) comes on and it just totally kills the mood he was trying to build in the previous two tracks.

Anybody feel the same? Can anyone enlighten me as to why Sasha may have arranged it the way he did? Am I overthinking it?

That's a catch all answer. Can you get into any specifics?

well, im saying that maybe to you the mood was killed but maybe to him and others that wasnt the case ? now i disagree with the the progression of sets alot with a lot of compilations but that doenst mean the artist's intention is exactly 'wrong' either.. we just have different ways to look at things.

I'm completely agree with what you said. And I'm not hinting that Sasha was "wrong" in anyway. Let me rephrase my question in saying, help me understand why he arranged it the way he did.

lol... i mean, wouldnt he have done it because it sounded good to him ? now im not much of a fan of Involver, but managed to get a free copy so i listened to it and i didnt feel any mood kills UNTIL the last 2 tracks... the last 2 tracks were represented way too fast in BPM. they are @ like 138 or something... i think that killed the mood and flow if anything.

Yeah, because he's like a gazillion times smarter than most people here. Their brains would explode if they even attempted to understand his thoughts.

These Days should be the starter with Grandnational and the other tracks after it, perhaps the build-up would be slightly better.

But hey who cares, the cd is freaking awesome and the best of 2004
