New User, Old Fan - Choice Of tunes
Hey All, since 1999 I have been an avid reader of these forums, but i was not until a couple days ago did i finally register. It took my lazy ass almost 6 years but i am finally a member. My taste in music has matured over the years into a variety of genres. I used to listen to hard, epic, and psy trance when i first got into the scene. Now my taste falls in the more progressive house/trance area and some tech/trance as well. Ok, enough talk from me, here is my topic discussion >>>
Well I finally persuaded my buddy to play 2 of my current favorite songs at a club in Hartford, CT last night and I have to say it sounds way better in that type of atmosphere withpeople and alcohol (The two songs were Ferry Corsten & Shelly Harland - Holding on (Luke Chable's Big Room Mix) and Rachel Starr - Till There Was You (Gabriel & Dresden's 12 Step Program Remix). Here are the 2 songs with 2 mixes each and my opinions >>>
----------------------------------------------------------
Ferry Corsten & Shelly Harland - Holding on (Luke Chable's Big Room Mix)
- Luke Chable never fails, and this remix is no exception. I Love the bassline and the overall groove of the tune. It definitely makes you wanna dance and it certainly worked at the club when people stormed the dancefloor after hearing a glimpse of the vocals.
Ferry Corsten & Shelly Harland - Holding on (Above & Beyond Remix)
- Not to shabby, but more on the trancier/uplifting side. I like A&B's interpretation but it holds no ground to Chable's masterpiece.
Rachel Starr - Till There Was You (John Creamer & Stephane K club mix)
- Nice. I have heard alot of praise for this remix on the forums and i can certainly see why. However it sounds a bit sparse. Very little layers, not to much of a groove and a bit too progressive for my taste.
Rachel Starr - Till There Was You (Gabriel & Dresden's 12 Step Program Remix)
- Hearing this on the dancefloor blew my mind. No one i went with has heard this song but the baseline populated the floor right away. Not since G&D's remix of the Engine Room - A perfect lie, have i appreciated a track like this one. Very Danceable, grooving baseline and amazing remix in my book. I will try to get pictures online for the middle part of this song, people were going insane on the floor and i spilled booze all over myself

Well these are my opinions on these tracks. Remember, opinions. I would like to hear you comments on the comparisons of these mixes, just so i can identify my taste in EDM with the taste of others.
Thanks,
Damien R
