What do you guys feel about him now? I saw him the other day. His matching was not top notch, as you could noticibly tell that the highs were off at times. And he is a very "raw" dj. Do you guys think it works well? After about 2 hours of it, it was getting kind of annoying. He did play a lot of tracks though that moved the croud, and a bunch that I enjoyed. A lot of techno/"hard house" stuff like just kick. He also played white stripes 7 nation army & mylo drop the pressure at the end.
He played a bunch of stuff off cd's and did some really cool stuff with the cdj 1000's.

Technically good (with so much action going on behind the decks you're bound to make slight beatmatching mistakes every now and then), entertainer-wise good. Famous for incorporating both house and techno in his sets
However, when you've seen or heard him a few times, that's enough. At least, for me it was.

Not really. I think with Carl Cox it's just all in the name. It's like it's cool to like him or something. But there are much better DJ's out there that play the same sort of sound. He bores me, and I don't even think he is 'that' good technically either.

Im not a big fan either, but it has been a couple years since the last time he made his way to a club close enough for me to go see him.
I had a shitty night that time, it was in a gay club and lotsa dudes were there who didnt get the memo that they were gonna have an EDM dj and straight ppl coming.
that and there arent many female coxy fans kinda made for a lame party
not that i was going there just for females, but gawd damn those huge crowds and hard curiosly shaped objects poking you in the crowd, augh
I find his mixed live cd's helpful for studying to though

rofl, that is very true
I guess I shoulda known better than to go to a gay club to see a DJ named Cox
silly aside, but the same club booked a certain person with the word "dyk" in there name too, that one was a bit more fun though, but there was strangers making out with each other in teh bathroom, eeek.

well, he is playing here in about 2 weeks and I had never really heard his sets, only heard his name. A bunch o people are raving about how amazing he is, but he really doesn't sound that great. I might just save myself a few hours on a sat night.

IMO he was fun, and worth the 15 bucks for 2 hours.
But he is kinda like tiesto for techno??? He is all about "kick" slams into the next track. He did do some neat fx, and i think he was using a drum machine at points. If you know the track Just Kick, thats basically his style. Everything he plays is that strong defined kick. I think its cool just to go out and experience different djs. He was definately having a good time.
and he has been just about the only dj i know, who used the mic .

It fucks me off when DJ's do this. DuMonde abused the mic a few years back at Gatecrasher. They were never invited back. Judge Jules does it all the time too, the cretin that he is. MIKE too. Can they not see how gay this makes them?
