Every time I see pictures of Sasha/BT/etc they're all always using apple computers. Windows can run ableton or finalscratch etc just as well as apple, so why always apple? I've been thinking about picking up a labtop to dj from and am just wondering why everything seems to be apple?

i think it's because the applo os is more stable than any windows! or maybe they get sponsored

I don't know about that BT's crashed at Two Tribes and he had to play free hand piano whilst it was booting back up. I've heard some other cases with his and some other big namers Apple laptop's crashing but I'm sure it isn't nearly as often as Windows systems.

It is a question of stability or at least it was traditionally.
It's kind of a hangover from the late 90's when windows was crashing for pretty much anything.
These days there are a ton of platforms out there with good stability but it's also a question of compatability.

These guys may also have other things that they run on these laptops that may only be mac based. If they produce on the road etc.

That's the way I see it atleast.

I think its because apple laptops unlike others are specially designed for multimedia use. Most people will know that apple computers cant run certain programs but excel when using image, video or sound software. Alkthough, last time i saw G&D live they had this other laptop, wasnt an i mac.

Apple OS is designed for multimedia and editing capabilities. Windows is more designed for networking. And yes the Apple is alot more stable then windows, if you treat it right. Right now they are selling those mini imacs for 500$. Very cheap for a mac, thinking of getitng one myself.

what kinda software would the mac run that windows wouldn't be able to?

The mac laptops are more stable and some of the programs are optimized for mac not to mention you can throw 2gigs of ram in one.

If your slighty hooked on gettin a pc their are modified versions of windows that are avaliable for free. They get ride of many things you dont need so obviously for example with the certain version of windows you wont b able to play games or network or connect to the net but it will run much faster and be much more stable. Only way i know this is because my brother is doing up his car and its what most people use for laptops/pcs that they have in their car for music.

does anyone know if sasha uses a 15 or 17" apple?

y not desktops ? rich djs got the people to carry em. and theyr more stable.
