I feel that community colleges should require more out of their students. I also think that there needs be a point where administrations for schools stop allowing certain students to attempt to complete their degree. It is to the point now that if you have the desire and money/debt that you can fail or barely pass your classes and still be able to be strung along by the system for years. People that have been trying to get a 4 year degree for 6-7 years because of bad grades in the past is ridiculous and shouldn't be happening. Not to mention technical colleges need to expect more out of their students as well. They are saturating the market with below-average college graduates that is driving down the prestige of a college education.

Having a masters is quickly becoming the 4-year college education of yester-year. If we keep down this road people are going to require doctorates for jobs that used to only require a 4 year degree.

I think schools should not have to depend on tuition so much to pay their bills. Then they can be picky with who they select plus they can fail a few more people and still keep the lights on.

Every time I talk with her about how different our schools are from Canuckistan's it makes me sad. I hope our kids don't have as bad an education as I did.

Something I have thought quite a bit about, and see no real problems with it. If half the bills were paid by taxes, we could afford to go to school, and they would also make entrance requirements much stricter.

most kids just don't give a shit about school. things like small classes and better teachers will not make apathetic student learn. the main problem is that parents need to do their jobs and teach their kids to value education. If you ask parents, of course most will say they value education - but most haven't done a thing to encourage that kind of mindset in their kids.

That's why us who DO CARE shouldn't have to be assfucked by rapidly increasing tuition rates and those bullshit hidden fees.

Imo a system needs to be devised, for example:

3.8-4.0 GPA per semester = no tuiton paid,etc. (some sort of scale covering a percentage of tuition cost based on performance )

& no, not just for the minority left handed students or mexicans, but everyone.

I am sorry, but you are flat out wrong. The problem is not that we need to teach a value in education. Society shows there isn't much value for the education itself outside of engineers and the medical profession. The statistics are so high for people NEVER using the degree that they worked their ass off for, it is insane. There are way too many people that have degrees that skated by doing the bare minimum. Barely doing shit to attain that degree, and paying people off to do their work. There are far worse things in our education system than "making" an apathetic student learn. You can't force someone to learn. No matter who the fuck you are.

This is not good. There are some people that are fucking great at the work, but suck at tests. Unfortunately tests are a massive part of each persons grade. Tests don't really prove much. They prove you can cram if you are a fucking jackass that cares not about the education, or that you are good at taking tests and half-assed remembering information. I am a fucking sponge with information, as long as it is not cramming. I can NOT cram, nor do any sort of hardcore studying in a short time. I failed ALL the tests I did that for. You have to consider other things when rewarding them with academic scholarships.
