Mixing Techniques

Hi, I've been practicing djing for awhile now. I can beatmatch a little but it always goes out of tune just under 16 bars. But anyway, i want to know what's the best way to mix. When i've been doing it you can clearly hear when 1 record has finished and the other has started. I want to make it so that it is one long smooth transition and gradually fades out then fades into the incoming track. I'm using a Numark dm950 mixer, which isn't the best mixer the world but getst he job done. I usually turn up treble afer 8 bars when im mixing then gradually turn down bass on r1 then turn up on r2. Is that correct or is there a better method for smooth transitional mixing?

Cheers.

Smiley DJ practise makes you better

I have been a dj since I was 17, now Im 26......it wasnt untill I started to practise everyday,....that I got it...and its like learning how to play on an instrument,....you just get better and better every mix....so it starts to be really intresting and you just want to mix more and more.
practise, take long mixes and you will get the hang of it...dont give up.
