Do Digital Download releases coincide with Vinyl Releases?
I am trying to balance my digital download purchases and my vinyl purchases. There are certain songs that I want, but I don't want to spend the $11+ on. There are certain vinyls that I want but dont want anything else from that specific online store, and I dont want to spend $11 + $15 shipped from the UK.
I would like to purchase some of these as a digital download.
Problem is, I can never find any of the newer releases on digital downloads. And it also seems that certain labels are on certain web sites, and not others, so I end up searching for hours on 10 different sites to locate a track.
I dont know what I am really asking then. I am just frustrated that I cant get tunes lately.
Anyone figure out these digital download sites? Release dates? Are there any tricks or anything?

I have found a lot of DD's to be well behind the vinyl release, plus some of the more obscure tracks are hard to find DD's for and so you pretty much have to go vinyl...
I will be very excited if Border Community makes a deal with beatport...
EDIT: I should also mention that in some instances the converse is true, and some tracks are ONLY available as DD's... I find that to be the problem far less frequently though...

As a general rule you can get tracks on vinyl way before you can get them as a digital download. Sometimes the opposite is true. If you know anyone producers or you produce yourself you're going to get the Digital version of the file first before it gets mastered and pressed to vinyl but most DJs aren't that well connected.

Just buy the vinyl and rip it to your PC? Problem solved.

i am trying to decrease the number of vinyls i buy. there are certain tracks that i have to have on vinyl, others that i want, but dont want to purchase on vinyl, and i would rather not illegally download them. buying the digital download is cheaper.

the place where you'll see them fastest will be on the labels sites.

dunno if you know mate but BC is available for digital download @ 3beat's digital section (www.3beat.co.uk). It's not beatport (damn expensive) but maybe if you're just looking for one particular track on each release..

I can only find the BC releases on Vinyl, no DD...
I'm specifically looking for Petter's "Six Songs EP"
