Pioneer djm-600 distortion !PLEASE HELP!

Does anyone have and recomendations on how to reduce the distortion that you get on the pioneer djm-600 when you put any of the knobs (High,Mid,Low) to high. Is that just the way that mixer is or are there any tricks to making it sound better. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

keep your gains down and dont go into the reds. DJM's are notorious for distorting over 0db.

Then again, you should not go above 0db with any mixer (well, occasional peaks are OK, but dont keep it constantly there)

You do get some with look-ahead limiters where it's ok and it'll just peak in an ok sounding way and not distort (digi ones mostly I think?), but obviously this ain't one of them.

Try playing with the master attn. knob on the back of the mixer. I found it helpful in reducing distortion when i used to record with it

0db is the recommended manufacturers optimum volume for a reason
any mixer you use should be set to run in that area for the best quality of sound

here's a simple thing to help you in the future

red=bad
red=stop

also, bear in mind this mixer's EQ knobs are obese. they go to +12dB. normally, you have about +9dB on most mixers, so throwing the knobs in will cause a big increase in sound.
