My planet formation paper, accepted for publication in the Astrophysical Journal

"Hybrid Mechanisms..." - Thayne Currie (UCLA)

This one was a bit of an ordeal to get published. I got into a VERY heated and lengthy argument with the first referee on this paper, but it looks like I have prevailed. I don't know when it will be in press yet, but it should be within a few months.

Big congratulations, sir, on this accomplishment! Those referees/editors can be pretty damn bullish - I had some pretty serious criticism for my grad. thesis paper that got published as well. Didn't get into the journal I wanted, but it got into a descent one eventually.

Anyways, congrats! And, could you maybe decipher the abstract in layman's terms? Looks interesting, but it is a bit difficult to understand.

Way to go! but wouldn't your time be more profitably spent working on a wormhole drive!

I will now attempt to read your paper

Keno, do you know why they use the word "oligarch" to describe these bodies?

Is 1km the size at which these bodies are of sufficient size that their mass is sufficient that gravity is sufficiently strong to continue the process?
