Ok, so heres what happened to me last saturday night: I was home alone, in other words, no other person in the house with me, not even a dog or cat, and this guy come up to my door and tells me he's lost and that he needs to come in and use my phone. If anyone else were there i would've let him in, but since i was alone, i told him to try next door. What would you have done?

sorry but thats what payphones are for. sadly in this day and age its more likely a scam than asking for help. If it were an emergency i would have kept him outside and called the police for him. Otherwise use a payphone or go to a business and ask to use their phone.

I dunno whut id have done actually, thats an interesting question. if i was in ur situation (and therefore had never really thought about this) i prolly would have "huh... okay, i guess so". but, in honestly, his appareance would greatly have affected if i ended up saying "yes"... if he had been a real big dude and was dressed as a biker (to be extreme here) id prolly would have said "try next door" bc i simply lilkey would have felt very intimidated and not in control of the whole situation. less secure

i think thats prolly how i would have analysed things in those seconds before i said "huh, okay" or "uhm, no, try next door"

After reading Jayx1's post, im inclined to see it that way too... id say use a payphone. (see, that never occured to me )

Another point, i guess if id let him in and he had had a gun, him being a massive dude would not really have mattered. he could have been uber skinny and still have easily killed me.

i wouldnt let the guy in as i know how those scams work,most of them usually go around downtown buildings but maybe someone is "working" in residential areas.

how this works:i open a company with 5-10 lines and mad charges for each call,hire 10 guys/girls,give em pizza delivery clothes and stuff and let them go around and ask for call because they lost adress for delivery,unsuspicious guards/people let them call,while crazy charges apply - 3-5 minutes on the line and delivery boy goes to the next door building/floor. 3 weeks later company closes. end of the story.
