They both use very simple 909 hats and claps. Their kicks are made up of 7 or 8 different kicks and then Eqed and compressed with a bass compressor more than likely.

Its a hardware drum machine by Roland. It provides the "standard" drum sounds for most dance/trance tracks. You can get samples from it from pretty much anywhere

The bass part of any of these kicks can be made with any shitty assed 909 emulator in 30 seconds. The "thickness" comes from the snare-like mids in the kick, which you can either sample incredibly easily, or play around with yourself by taking a similar sounding snare, cutting it off <800hz or so, and then EQ'ing/Compressing the shit out of it till you get that THWACK type sound they achieve.

Really, im not sure what he uses to compress the bass on his kicks. There are plenty of good software ones about that do just the same for a fraction of the price. And to go with that... "its not what you've got, its how you use it!"
