Advanced wasting of time...

OK, this is a bit precocious, but the Anarchist Bookfair is happening on May 21 @ the CEDA (2515 Delisle - pretty close to the Lionel-Groulx metro stop). If you haven't been to this yet, you should go and educate yourself about how your future is being mortgaged to international corporations, how the dwindling green space in distant countries is directly affecting your proclivity to develop heinous cancers, and how to take the streets and get away with it (first step: find the plainclothes policeman in a wig and steal his videocamera, then hog-tie him before he can start a riot). It's on a Saturday and Sunday from 10 AM to 6 PM, so if you are one of the late night people, there are video screenings (always either terrifying or hilarious) and workshops (learn how to get hundreds of people off their asses to fight really stupid laws) at which to spread your enlightened opinions. Paix.

Anarchist Bookfair

And it's free. And there will be hella good lit, AV materials, and daycare if you got some young'uns.

C'est clair que je suis serieux Chomsky's one of my heroes, I dabbled a bit into anarchism back when I was in Monty, and have good relations with some anarchist groups here in the Pitts (although I'm not part of any of them). So yeah, I'll probably end up passing by.

You'll have to clarify that. I don't see any oxymorons there.

I don't know a lot about them and their ideas, so that's why I need to go and have many talks with them. I'll judge next. And, as always, I'll probably find some good and assimilate it, while leaving the unuseful (imo) things/stuff/ideas for others.

You're obviously completely oblivious to what Anarchism is. You're either simply regurgitating the drivel that is fed to the masses, or you're insulting my intelligence. For your sake, I'll go with the former.

From the Wiki:

quote:
Anarchism is a term which encompasses a variety of political philosophies, social movements, and political ideologies that advocate the abolition of all forms of imposed or involuntary authority including social hierarchy and coercive power. Proponents of anarchism argue that relations based upon voluntary cooperation and mutual aid will lead to a society characterised by the ability of each actor to have a say in outcomes proportionate to the degree they are affected by them, a society consisting of free individuals.

A society or part of a society that has no form of government, state, or imposed hierarchy, is not necessarily one that is chaotic. Furthermore, the term anarchist as I used it (as in anarchist organizations) is clearly not oxymoronic, since the term "organization" does not constitue anything equivalent to a "state", an "imposed or involuntary authority", or a coercive power. Finally, you still haven't shown me why their idealism is an oxymoron. I await your enlightenment.
