I have seen people on this board insist that house became popular in the UK before spreading to Europe, but this seems like it couldn't possibly be right. If I'm not mistaken, house wasn't even close to "popular" in the UK until the acid house nights of summer '87, correct? Meanwhile Italy (and probably other European countries, but at least Italy) had a substantial house scene in 1986, and I've even got some good Italian house mixes that are from earlier in that year and possibly even '85.
So correct me if necessary

that sounds about right as well.
i like this guy. he probably meant "the rest of europe". but europe isn't a culture system-j, it is a continent that most certainly includes the UK.

I don't believe there is such a thing as a common European culture; at least not globally amongst the EU.
All countries are different and original in their own sense.
The only thing we have in common is that our forefathers all fought each other for lame purposes.

All countries in mainland Europe are different and original in their own sense, but the UK is different in every sense.

Actually I think that the UK is quite similar to most countries in Europe. It's just that you've never been anywhere exiting enough to experience the wide variety of cultures that the world has to offer.
