was anyone here a candy raver?

and if so, are you still? or do you look back at those years with some embarrasment?

just wondering cos i think about how punks in the 1980s looked, how hippies in the 1960s/70s looked and how grunge looked in the 1990s

we look back and say "man i can't believe i wore that"

i was never a candy raver, but im just wondering if anyone else was and if you lament over it.

pretty much most the old skool ukta's had a candy raver phase. cyber clothing, with illumious paint and UV shit plastered all over us. the whole countries trance scene was doing it so it was the norm.

looking back tho, i do think it was all rather ghey.

infact, here is me like 4 years ago at the now deseased but legendary, Gatecrasher. u can see the small specs of UV paint on my face too. lol. and no, i dont know who the bird is, no i didnt shag her, and no, i never saw her again.

that's cool

yeah i guess there are certain degrees to beind a raver

i still see a lot of people with UFOs, visors and pumas around in clubs

i guess i was thinkng more along the lines of those "crasher" kids with beads and necklaces and backpacks and all that getup.

is that old-fashioned now? do people still wear that?

God did I ever hate the candy ravers. Every time some bastard in furry pants and a beaded necklace ever started talking about PLUR and "the community" at a party I just wanted to beat the piss outta the new aged hippie. Fuck kid, I know that you're just some little bubble gummer that can't handle their drugs but do you have to fuckin' annoy the rest of us with your child like philosophy.... Jesus, go rub your crotch against a speaker or something!

In Finland we have a certain ammount of people who dress a bit differently to parties. I don't think they are 'candy ravers', since some of the clothes actually look pretty good. It's not like they take it to the extreme. Look http://www.klubitus.org/kuvat.php for better idea of the finnish scene.

see but yeah its ok because it was a collective thing, you just went ahead and followed the crowd and you weren't different for doing so.

So do you think you matured now, now that you don't dress like that? or do you just think you're in another phase of your life?

I dunno why i find this whole thing fascinating.. I ask my dad the same questions about the stuff he wore in the 70s

the whole candy raver phrase started to die a death a few years back. it slowly became less and less common in clubs, and within 6 months, it went from 7/10 people inside the club being dressed candy raver style, to like 2/10, so it just phased out.

looking back it was gimpish. but as u say, everyone was doing it. so its not like girls thought "wtf is that" coz they were all in fluffy UV boots and pink skirts.
