Collenius meets Golden Earring - Twilight Zone

Just felt like remixing it. Hope you enjoy it, tips and tricks are always welcome: let me know what you think of it!

Download

Used gear:
Virus B (lead, sfx and bass)
Jomox Airbase99
Vanguard (pad)
And a few hours (appr. 7) time.

Cheers!

Listening to it now,

Wow, that kick sounds really heavy. I like what you did with the original track (eq, filtering, etc...) It's the bass in the beginning that's too bright atm. Try holding it back with some cutoff effect and add some gate effect, maybe that'll help.
Sometimes I hear that the kick of the original track barks at the rhythm you built around it. It can be helped by removing some bass of the original track.
The idea is pretty good, sounds as a good remix to me!

you can hear the timestretch sometimes,
it's just like playing a cover with a band; doing exactly the same thing but adding a few things wich makes it different but definetely not better. Try timestretchin' it a little slower and MOSTLY add more from yourself, the only things you added are a few filters, a beat, a hihat and an afterbeat. You can do better than that. Even in 7hrs.

I added two synth lines and two sfx tracks already (besides the bass, kick and hihat), but kept them on the background. You don't hear them, but if I would remove them, you would definitly mis them. My goal was to keep it original as possible. However, I agree with you on the timestretch. The bpm went from 118 to 134, and it was inevitable that you would hear Golden Earring accelarate (no time clicking used in that recording...) Most of the work was to keep it acceptable. Thanx for the reply!
