How to find BPM of a song?

Hy guys, i got this song i wanna remix but i have nooooo idea how to find the bpm of it and im sick of geussing by changing it each time and doing trial and error...

isnt there SOME way of finding it?

and second, is there any way of increasing the speed without increasing the pitch and trying to make it sound high pitch like a girl?

thanks

get Acid...the beat wizard will help you get correct BPM and if you check the "keep pitch even when speed changes" you get it faster without changing pitch...

there are also some other programs I believe but I kinda know only about acid...

A note on finding the BPM effectively with Acid's Wizard:

Don't let the wizard do everything for you. It'll find a pretty good estimation of the tempo, and it can work if you're not too much of a stickler, but it's much better to get a second opinion: Yours.

This is really most important in the last step. Once the wizard has found it's version of the tempo, go all the way to the end of the song in the wizard's waveform display, and make sure that the last measure with a discernable beat is in time with the metronome. I can almost garuntee to you that it will be somewhat off. Correct the offending measure, then go through and check in the middle to make sure you got it right.

I also seem to be able to get finer adjustments in the last measures of a song. I don't know why, though, or even if it's just my imagination.

mixmeister's bpm analyzer. It's a freeware and it's really good. You drag-and-drop a music-file into the application, and it counts the correct bpm, down to 2 decimals, in just a few seconds. It has never let me down.
