Question????

Help me out here I'm workin' further on my tune and now I want some choirs in it like you here in alot of trance production's. You know, a vocal that's singing without saying words . I want such a choir to make it stutter and let it flow around in my tune. Does anybody has an idea how to create this or do I have to sample this by some kind of way??

Thnxz in advance

Hey. This can be done a lot of ways. Personally, I take the sample split way. Basicly, I take a long sampled vocal track, and split it up into several sections and then I copy and paste each section 2 or 3 possibly 4 times after the original so you basicly have it repeat a particular section 2-4 times and then it moves on to the next section and does the same. Another stutter is the gate stutter, which, seeing you use FLS, you can use the peak controller and an LFO or a peak controller and just gate it. Two quite different but quite cool sounds. Hope I helped .

Cheers,
Zac

Thnxz for the info, but the basic question was how to cr8 a choir. Do I need someone that sings for me?? I can sample it from another tune but then you always here that it's not smooth.

Hey. Sorry for the misunderstanding. You can find choirs on a lot of sites. Hell, you could same one yourself, it isnt hard. The key to making a good choir sound is to have 2 or 3 different samples of a vocalist singing a particular note (or even different harmonic notes) then to get that choir effect, for each sample, apply a thick chorus on each one and then when setting the choir into a song, to make it even more realistic, instead of lining each sample up with the others, offset them a few milliseconds. Itll make it sound more realitic because in all choirs, no one starts and stops singing at the same time, and by doing this, you get the right effect .

Cheers,
Zac

Hey. Well the cheapest and most effectivce/controllable way to get choir samples is to record them yourself. If you do, do that, use a good mic because it will be noticable that it is a lowquality mix from the thinness of the choir. If you arent up for that, its up to how much you are willing to pay. There are of course various free samples on the web and then there are the several-hundred dollar sample cds on the web as well.

Free:
WaveForm.dk
SampleNet.co.uk (theres a few on the previous page as well)
Chez.Tiscali (I think there is only one on this page but might be worthwhile)
Swelk's SF2 (odd and interesting soundfonts)

Not Free:
The Loop Library (very cheap)
Magnus Choir
Voice Crystal
LoopWise
Vocaloid (good choice but some voices are more mechanical than others)
Symphonic Choirs (as good as it gets)

Hope I helped .

Cheers,
Zac
