did you say nord lead 2x? it sucks brah.... really does. thought it does excel at harsh, nasty leads.
BTW, I think michael madsen is one cool mofo to hang with. I definitely would put him in my top 5 celebs to hang with. He's the ultimate "bad boy" type the chix go for. so just by virtue of hanging with him, you're bound to get some quality tail.
Oh, and I'd say that I'm envious that your pops is sound editor - I wish I could have a gig like that, if it paid the bills. I love sounds, I love music, I love my little $25K studio... but it is by far nowhere near these movie studios, inspite of having a set of monitors that originally cost $12K....

Right now the new is you, but someday not too long from now, you will gradually become the old and be cleared away. Sorry to be so dramatic, but it is quite true. |

What studio is it? Ive been to most the big studios around Vancouver, Post Modern, Sharpe sound, and the warehouse were probably the coolest. I did post production for tv and film in school. working freelance out of my house atm.

Sharp Sound actually!
paul sharp, the bossman
some of the suites have some really killer shit. stuff comes in and out every now and then for different needs and such, as some people arnt working there long term. some of the studios rigged up just for editing and only have FX units and such, but there are a couple rooms, most notably, studio A and B with tons of shit. i think they are all running pro tools machines now, they just had an big upgrade. really nice mixers for each room. another really nice studio in Van is, where actually my close friends dad is located, Blue Wave Studios. I believe most of the stuff there is strictly audio related. hmm, do you mean the warehouse on main and 2nd?

Ya sharpe sound is awsome. Peter Leitch the president of lions gate studios is a good family friend, He arranged a meeting/interview for me with Paul Sharpe. I never could really follow up though cause i couldnt afford a move to north Van. Waiting till my student loans are payed off then i can really go after what i wanna do as a career, by then ill have a kickass portfolio. I was always more into the sound design for film then the tech side anyway and thats all pretty much freelance.
If you ever get the chance check out Post Modern sound. Very Very cool place. The warehouse is Brian Adams studio dowtown just off hastings, past sonar. that place is really somthing to see, totaly diffrent cause its used for music recording as opposed to post production. Their moniters in the main mix room are the craziest things i have ever heard |
I went with my dad to the last christmas party at Sharpes. My plan was to ask Paul for a minimal job around the studio's, just until I was finished with my courses, so I could get to know the ropes of the business, while earning some spare cash. I waited till he was drunker than anything, which was late in the night. Had a good talk with him and he said he would work something out for me. Well, I too...couldn't follow up. Anyway, Ive been really drifting toward sound design aswell. My dads been in the business for years, so I've learned so much from him as well as others I know in the business. Learning that kind of stuff really boots creativity for my music production work aswell. Hehe, Im starting to mutter on now. About Post Modern, is that a fairly small place? I know there is a little studio across from Oppenheimer Park, forget the name, but they are also a dealership for Hard/Software for production purposes. Could be the same complex. I've never been to Sonar, so I don't really know the location to well.
