Question How many use PA speakers in your home setup?

I currently use Mackie HR824s in my home dj setup. Due to my rooms acoustics and the bass emitting out of the back of the Mackies, everything sounds very muddy. Im not happy with them at the moment, although I know its due to positioning.

Now, Im going to be buying some PA speakers this month for some events im doing.. JBL EONs or Yorkville NX550Ps. I was wondering how many of you actually use PA Speakers for home monitoring because Im wondering if maybe they will suite me better than the Mackies i already have. Obviously my main concern is how they sound at reasonable and sometimes low listening levels. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks.

PA speakers sound better running atleast "a little loud"

only time i use studio monitors, at all, is for when i need accurate quiet zone coverage.. ie in my apartment.

at the "studio" ? yorkville ex350, jbl mpro sub, crown amp, rane crossover no close neighbors to bitch.

those nx550p's look mighty tempting.. i think you need to go listen to a set before you blow them off. yorkville makes some serious kit and usually a great bang for the buck. really good warranty, too. I just looked over the spec sheet on them, looks quite fat. it's got a 12 instead of a 15, which usually works out better. better midrange.

two nx550p's over two yorkville 18" subs would make a really nice little system. the nx550p's (or eons) are sure to be a hit for home monitoring, and would put out some serious sound with some subs to support them.
