Recording problems..

I use Soundforge 7.0, what should I use for kind of settings?

When I record my mixes and then play them it sounds like sh!t

I use my laptop for recording, it's has a Sound Blaster Pro, MS-Sound compatibel, Audio system with built in speakers

All other specs are good, it's mostly the sound I suppose that has to do with the recording...

btw it's an Acer Aspire 1522LMi.

Are you clipping when you record?

are you plugging the REC OUT or BOOTH OUT to the LINE-IN on the soundcard and not the MIC? Also as said above , clipping could play a big part.. make sure to keep your levels on the mixer around 0 and that sound forge is not going in the red

Make sure you mute all channels that are not recording by using the windows volume control.
I have a high spec laptop and the inbuilt soundcard is of poor quality when recording, if you are going to record a lot I would suggest looking at getting an external audio adaptor or usb/firewire soundcard.
