How many PCI cards do you have in your machine? It could be that all of the IRQ ports have been used up by other things. This is fairly common if you have say a PCI modem, PCI graphics card, 2 PCI soundcards, couple of things in the ISA slots and maybe an AGP graphics card. This could be the problem.

Failing that, remove the device from device manager (highlight it, and press delete), turn off the machine and take the card out. Restart the machine. Turn it off again, replace the card, and turn it on. When windows says "found new hardware" DON'T install the drivers. The disk with them on should not be in the machine at this point! Once you are in windows, then run the installation CD.

Windows often fucks up installing drivers when it finds new hardware. It's always best to let the manufacturer's driver CD do the job properly.

After doing this you can then download updated drivers if you want.

nono..

Two of the same sound cards/manufacters are a no no. Windoze gets hella confused of what sound card is what, what software reg entries to assign to what etc etc.. return your old card keep the audigy and just buy a cheap second hand card for monitoring if that is what you are using this for. Don't buy a spliter cause that will just turn the stereo signal into mono and we all know how that sucks. I'm out. peace off. catch me in the chat, peace off. Da Tempest

It doesn't necessarily give bad sound quality...

The downside to using a splitter is that the output signal has to be downmixed into mono (meaning the stereo sound is lost from your music when playing). In a typical situation, the program you use may send the main output to the left channel, and a headphone channel to the right.

this is okay if you want to learn about mixing.. but if you are gonna do performances or making mixes- you will want 2 soundcards to retain the stereo sound.

Hi drinkyourmilk

Just note if you have a SB Live! with the front bay you can monitor in the front bay and send the main signal thru the line out. That's what I do @ home - (we have a SBLive! Platinum 5.1)

So, maybe it's cheaper to buy the front bay instead of another crappy soundboard.

And I'll second Tempestrip on this: do not use two of the same soundboards if you have the choice... "big blue screen of death" is gonna hunt you

just my 2 cents..

Hi , Tr@NzA

This is how I did set up SBLive! Platinum 5.1 (some long time ago - I may be missing something, please reply if it works for you)

In the AudioHQ > Speakers > Choose 4 speakers

Then:

In Traktor: setup > choose 3D soundcard
In PCDJ: turn SBLive support on

Wish you luck

Nuba

I'm not sure how helpfull this is seeing your using windoze but i've used my sblive (OEM not 5.1) to mix using gdam ( gdam.sourceforge.net ) under linux, works very nicely, I'm just using the front and rear outputs on the back. Any other TA a non-windoze user? BTW, you can use two of the same cards under linux :-)
