Thumbs up Jerry Bonham

I haven't seen a thread about Jerry or heard anyone even talk about him since I've been here, so I wondered what people think of him as a producer and as a dj.

I have had the fortune to see him on a few occasions as he has played with Van Dyk, and found his sets to be far superior to Van Dyk's. In fact, I have enjoyed his sets about as much as anyone's because of his mixture of progressive and trance and style, as well as his ability to mix pretty cleanly.

What do you guys think?

I've seen him open for PVD a few times and he sucked. The entire dance floor, expect for like 3 people on drugs, were actually dancing.

But he does a good job opening for PVD because everyone was bored out of their minds with his shitty music that when PVD came on his shit sounds 100000000000000X better than it normally would.

Damn, that's crazy. The couple of times I saw him open for PVD he was way better. And had a good progression, building into Van Dyk. His sound wasn't monotonous like PVD's. I preferred his sets, but everyone has off nights, or it might just be his style. Do you like Sander K or Hernan Cattaneo?

The last time I saw him was at Milwaukee @ the Rave and in Chicago @ Sound-Bar. Both times he opened for PVD. Both times the dancefloor just stopped moving.

Hell yeah. I just saw him a couple of weeks ago. One of the best sets I've ever seen. Should be some of the same, I imagine.

I saw him at Vision a couple of years ago. It was my first time seeing him and he was sick there too. Have a good time.

I was just wondering, because he has played very similarly to Sander the couple of times I saw him. Maybe not as housy, but pretty dark, yet melodic.

The times I saw Jerry play it was just shit. Nothing close to Sander style tracks. Maybe he lost his records

This is the first time I am going to see Sander live so it will be cool.

Depends - how long did you listen to him play? If he plays for a long set before PVD (as he did one time I saw him), the first hour or two he plays pure filler. Barely danceable. In fact I didn't like it at all.

But that's opening music. As the night progresses his set becomes better and better. At around 2-3 hours before PVD he started playing pretty good stuff.

He's a very good DJ IMO, he knows how to play as an opening DJ. His mixing has been spot on and very clean, and his track selection is varied and **fresh**. Last time I saw them both, I actually preferred Bonham's set. PVD was just playing pure hard trance /techno nonstop (almost to the point of being monotonous). Jerry's set had a more varied energy level. Most tasty.

That's exactly how I feel. I was wondering if others would have the same sentiment. He doesn't play a lot of tracks you know, but he plays great tracks. Last time he was here in July he played a track that I have that is awesome. I think it's called Plastic Boy - Silver Bath, but I never remember. The record has a yellow arrow on it and is green.
