Oh No. Another CDJ 1000 CDJ 800 Comparasen Thread...

Hey. Ive searched for the answer on this site and looked on other dj sites (im not a noob ive been doing this for 5 years )

Saw a video of a cdj 800 the other day on the pioneer website, and was quite intreigued by the looping buttons it has on the top left where it cuts it for u and you can make ur own break downs and such so to speak. but when looking at the cdj 1000 it didnt have these buttons but i saw andy whitby the other weekend doing some mental shit on a cdj 1000.

so whats the deal here? can the 1000 acually do all this looping madness? and why doesnt it have them buttons that the cdj 800 has? what does it have in its place? says hot cue but if what i know is corect that is where u save points on the cd to the memory card that comes with it for easy cue points. so whats with the looping? can it be doen easily of is andy whitby just a god? hope you get what i mean lol. and sory for yet another bloody cdj 800 vs 1000 thread...

The 1000 can do looping, but you sort of have to do it 'manually' whereas the 800 will basically do it for you!

The hot cues are basically just 3 more cue points to use that don't pause the track when you push them.

do you have any idea how the looping on the cdj-200s compares to the looping on the 800 and 1000?

The only problem here is that the 800 is horrible at setting good loops automatically.

Not related to loops but...

Another thing that I have found when I play on 800s is that their jog wheel is plasticy and very loose in comparisson to the 1000. Notably however, the 1000 Mk1 had a much nicer feel to it than the Mk2 does. But there is still more resistance in a 1000 mk 2 than a 800.

Cheers

Hmmmmm. dDon't know how whitby was doing it then, he was literally making up breakdowns as he went with all looping stuff. it was fucking crazy :| y is it that they have the looping cutting o nthe cdj 800 and not the 1000s?

Nah I'm not sure about looping on the 200!

Just a guess, but Whitby was probably just making a loop and then using the 'out adjust' button. From here if you tap the jog wheel thingy slightly back a bit, and then gradually increase it you can sort of create a mini-drum roll breakdown thing - I dunno that's my guess, apparently Judge Jules does it heaps!

I also found the 800 overly loose. It is due to the lighter material used for the platter, as opposed to the 1000Mk2. I havent had the opportunity to spin on a set of Mk1s.
