Networking with Windows XP (SP2)

hey guys and gals .. i feel like a flaming idiot here, but does anyone here know how to network a home network between a 2000 machine and an XP machine ??

i am running peer-to-peer between my two machines. the XP machine can see the 2000 machine 'shares'. However, the 2000 machine cannot see the XP machine's 'shares'. I get a logon failure at the 2000 machine stating :

'Logon Failure : the user has not been granted the requested logon type access to this computer.'

i know it has something to do with my 'group policy' and permissions thingamajig. did the whole google thing. nothing works. (just that you want to know. i hate SP2! .. before i got sp2, everything worked for me. the networking .. the sharing ... then when i installed it, my networking got worse, however the spamming and pop-up ads are gone .. .. you win some, you lose some ... ehhh )

so does anyone here gotten this problem before ?? i tried the following :

-turn off the windows firewall
-add my 2000 machine as a 'accepted exception' in the firewall to tell it to accept my machine
-turn off IPSec service
-'checked' the option to permit all ports in a TCP/IP connection

nothing works.

and my XP machine is still continually reading my 2000 machine cleanly.

help me please. if you help me, i promise sucky-sucky with any TA gal (or guy if you are gay/a gal/metro ... ) ....

oh yeah .. forgot to mention.

i got XP Home. ..

i know with XP Pro, it has the Group Policy snap-in, so i can work with that .... but nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ..... XP Home has that damn Users and Accounts UI to work with groups and usernames ...

and yeah .. the 2000 machine can 'ping' the XP machine, and vice versa ...

however, 2000 cannot see 'XP' shares. ...
and i type 'net view' at the command prompt, and i get 'access denied' ... just like in true life when it comes to my sex life .. ... all the chics seem to tell me the same two words ..

Hey Leopold, Networking with Windows has proven to be a bitch for me in the past. I would recommend posting your problem up on www.binarydreams.us , its a forum where people post networking and computer problems and they usually get solved. Tell them "kuijper" sent you.
