Networking with Windows XP (SP2)
hey guys and gals .. i feel like a flaming idiot here, but does anyone here know how to network a home network between a 2000 machine and an XP machine ??
i am running peer-to-peer between my two machines. the XP machine can see the 2000 machine 'shares'. However, the 2000 machine cannot see the XP machine's 'shares'. I get a logon failure at the 2000 machine stating :
'Logon Failure : the user has not been granted the requested logon type access to this computer.'
i know it has something to do with my 'group policy' and permissions thingamajig. did the whole google thing. nothing works. (just that you want to know. i hate SP2! .. before i got sp2, everything worked for me. the networking .. the sharing ... then when i installed it, my networking got worse, however the spamming and pop-up ads are gone .. .. you win some, you lose some ... ehhh )
so does anyone here gotten this problem before ?? i tried the following :
-turn off the windows firewall
-add my 2000 machine as a 'accepted exception' in the firewall to tell it to accept my machine
-turn off IPSec service
-'checked' the option to permit all ports in a TCP/IP connection
nothing works.
and my XP machine is still continually reading my 2000 machine cleanly.
help me please. if you help me, i promise sucky-sucky with any TA gal (or guy if you are gay/a gal/metro ... ) ....
