Dj epuipment...

I'm just posting to enquire about exactly what equiment I need to start DJing properly. I understand that a mixer is essential much like the turntables. I've never actually Djed so I'm a noob un the field :P - any help would be appreciated.

You've forgotten the most important part....

The vinyl

But seriously that's about it. You should be able to find some speakers somewhere which you can hook up to your mixer. But yeh, basically Turntables (with needles obviously), A Mixer, some vinyl. And a lot of practise.

Depends what route you want to go down having never dj'd, or had a go. But that lot will probably set you back a pretty penny

I was in the same situation as yourself, though i knew what i needed i was just scared i wouldn't like it!

I had nothing to worry about

I'm gonna get a job sometime soon - should relieve the pressure :P - Yeah vinyl most important part - first vinyl - ummm Mirco De Govia - Voller Sterne (Super 8 Mix) - is a first

lol, well get a few so you can practise. Some people say getting one vinyl twice helps with practising. But i dunno..

Use the search feature on this forum to find out anything you need to know because i guarantee it's been asked before.

Mixer reviews, turntable questions. Stylus questions. It's all been asked before, all you have to do is search.

When you're looking for an opinion after you've done all your research people are usually very helpful around here.

But if your next thread is, "What turntable should i buy?" You wont get many people answering your question.

First give yourself a budget and then go from there. Don't forget if you go for something cheap, you'll probably end up upgrading it and spending even more money. So think about that.

also try if at all possible to have a go on a friends set of decks or in a shop. (Asking them to help you out etc, if they can that is)

Anyway i hope the above helps.. good luck as well, hopefully the bug will bite nice and hard!

Thanks a bunch m8. Yeah I'll have a search through the website to check out whats good. I'll also try to have a go on the decks in the shop. I really like melodic trance. I've been listening to trance for a few years now so I'm quite aware of whats new. I'll try to get some good vinyls. Thanks again.

When i started djing i started out with software and i practicly djed whenever i got the chance and eventualy baught an external mixer to go with the software and then added an old free turntable to go with it then decided to spend the big $$$ on some nice turntables. Iv been slowly collecting vinyl on the side aswell, my only problem is i wish i had baught more vinyl before buying decks.

it depends on you: what you like and your mixing style! ex. some mixers has built-in fx like filters. big stores always let you go in and give try to this kind of stuff.
