Flaming June (James Andrew's Interpretation)

After spending some time at 125 bpm with "Birds of Paradise" , I felt the need to get back up to 140 bpm.

Here is a remake I just did of Flaming June by B.T.

Opinions are appreciated!

Thumbs up

Hey, Just listening to your track now.

The beat has a little too much mid in it and could do with a boost in the bass region, say 100Hz.

Hi hats and claps fit nicely, not too keen on that noise that sounds like a triangle tho.

Nice panning piano, i like it.

Nice synth aswell for the lead.

Nice swoosh fx too.

I wasnt expecting a remix of this tune to be good as its one of my favourite trance tracks but hey i like his, well done.

Just get your kick sorted and your onto a winner.

Thanks a lot for the feedback. I'll see what I can do about the kick. I'm trying to capture the kick that I hear in works by Mirco De Govia or Ronski Speed. It's fairly high in frequeny. Maybe I just need to add some sub-bass to it.

yeah, kicks are a bugger, but theres always the esay and thats to sample a kick from a ronski speed record.

thats how most people without a 909 do.

Good acid sound in the intro.

The reverb on your hats sounds weird. I think your room size is too small.

When the percs come back in at 0:41, you could add some 16th note hats there to brink the energy up.

Guitar instead of piano. Interesting idea.

Your kick's click is panned really far to the left. All kick elements should occupy the center, ideally.

There was never really a peak when all the leads came together. The energy levels just stayed about the same spot. The key to Flaming June is introducing all of the elements separately, then seeing how they fit together. The effect is most profound when all three main themes are played at the same time, IMO, or at least putting two of them together.

It also seemed like the actual song is unfinished, judging by the abrupt ending. Or did I have a problem with my download?

Good constructive ideas. I'm not sure if I'm going to do much more on this track, since I want to get on to some original material, but if I do, I'll definitely take your ideas into account. I think you may have had a problem with the download. The song fades out to silence with a nice long 'swoosh'.
