defintitions of genres....

im not sure if this has been a thread before..probably it has.
but i would like to have a clear definition of all the genres in trance...
i guess its not only me who has this problem; when you hear a track you can indentify which genre it belongs to, but if someone asks you whats unique for this genre, it getting harder to explain...
can anyone help me out here?????

Let's see.. for trance I think these are some of the main sub-genres:

Melodic, Uplifting, Epic, Progressive, Hard, Goa/Psy, Ambient..

Don't ask me to put much IN them.. I just know those are some of the sub-genres.

ishkur's electronic music guide is crap. His 'descriptions' are based on whether he likes the music or not, instead of what the music actually is. I was enjoying Children by Robert Miles as the Dream Trance track, only to go and read the 'description', to find out I was being called a pussy for liking this. Bastard.

I agree with Mosaic. The only good thing about ishkur's guide is that he has sound samples of each genre, but don't expect any decent descriptions of the music.
