Just a reminder...and a story inside.
Went to visit some family over the weekend, and on Saturday night, I was in the car with my mom and my 2 aunts (we were taking one of them home after dinner), and we approached this huge accident with a million cops/ambulance, etc…so before we could get caught up in it, we made a quick turn and parked at this condo building. My aunt’s condo was only a few blocks up, so we decided she should just get out and walk home. Curiosity got the best of me though and I insisted that we all get out and go see what happened since there was a huge group of people on the both sides of the road and flares up everywhere…something major had just happened.
Anyway, as we get closer I see a body on the ground w/ 2 feet sticking out from under a blanket…obviously he was dead. And a group of medics were frantically working on the other body in the middle of the road…they had to incubate her right there and everything. Spoke to a few people who saw it happen and they said the couple was arguing and one crossed the road before the other and they both got hit by a little red pick-up truck. They were obviously jay-walking and it was on a very busy road where the speed limit is like 45 but everyone goes faster than that. They said the lady’s head got split open and there was blood and brains spilling out (this was the one they were working on). Anyway we sat and watched (this was about 10 feet away from us, so I had a pretty good view of everything) for a while, and then decided to head back to our hotel. On our way home we passed ANOTHER accident that had just happened (cops weren’t even there yet). The front end of the car was totaled and the airbags had released. It was a group of college students..but it looked like no one was badly hurt since they were all standing around on their phones…just looked shaken up…glass was all over the road n stuff.
it just really freaked me out, I was scared to even be in the car, i couldn't wait to get back to our hotel.
I just wanted to remind everyone that your life can be over in the blink of an eye if you are being careless while driving. I’m definitely a pretty aggressive driver, but I ALWAYS wear my seatbelt and I never drink and drive. I’m always aware of my surroundings too…like if I’m approaching an intersection and it’s green, I don’t just zip through it, oblivious…I always check the other sides of the intersection to make sure some asshole isn’t going to run a red light…just stuff like that. you guys should do the same…and keep cell phone chatting to a minimum.
All it takes is for u to look down at ur radio for 2 seconds and look back up and bam…ur a gonner. Or u could hit a pedestrian and they’re a gonner.
anyway just wanted to share my experience...
