Im curious what some of you guys think about this:

Terrorists bombs your country, lots of injuries/deaths suffered and youre the President.

what do you do? Do you retaliate or do you huddle everyone together and talk "peace."

Huddle who together? You pose a question that would suggest George Bush has Osama Bin Laden on his speed dial.

Im sure if bush wanted to contact osama right now, he could.

but what would u do? Would u start bombing to retaliate or would you brush it off and say "bombings can happen anywhere, no need to panic."

Who would you like to retaliate against? Al Queda? They don't reside in any specific nation. The closest was Afghanistan (and it sure as hell wasn't Iraq to start with). I'm just waiting for this to somehow lead to Iran as the next target. There's been enough published in the last 6 months that would indicate that our government is at least looking at it as an option. They won't even think of North Korea, which seems to be a larger threat than small terrorist organizations, as it appears they have nuclear capabilities.

The real question is why we're so reactionary as a society. When will we start trying to defeat the causes of terrorismn rather than put everything on lockdown after something happens?

It's not just with terrorism either. Look at the health issues this country has. Rather than treating everyone for problems, we could try to lower the rate of incident. For example, why won't an medical insurance company pay for people to go on diet programs, but they will pay for all of the consequences of being fat? I think the same applies for smoking cessation programs. If someone desires to quit smoking or to lose weight, the costs of the meds/diets associated with these preventive measures is too much to be a viable option for many.

Simply put, we're focusing on the wrong part of a cause-effect relationship in a lot of areas
