LOL this is what I posted in my friend's blog when she wanted me to tell everyone how I proposed to Jenny (my fiancee):
I wanted to surprise Jenny when she landed at the airport in Toronto.
For weeks, I had been trying to research different ways to have an exclusive occasion right at the airport...different ideas:
1. Surprise her by entering the plane. This option would probably make people think I'm strapped with a bomb and going to blow up the plane, so I kept it to myself.
2. Get permission from airport security to be at the entrance to the building, right where passengers get off the plane (in that accordion-like path). Again, the security never replied which I took as a FACK OFF!
3. Get permission from British Airways to have Jenny escorted to the First Class lounge where I could be waiting for her and propose right there. Again, I ain't no VIP so cust. service basically told me to wait outside like the rest of the peasants (although they did wish me luck though!)
4. So I came back to my "average" plan which was to be waiting at the arrival's gate, and when she arrived, get on my knee in front of all the waiting people and propose!!!! So that was the plan...
So Jenny's flight arrived on Dec. 25 (no one flies that day so it's cheaper!)...
About 2 weeks in advance I arranged for the airport customer service to have a greeter waiting for her inside, after customs, and a baggage porter to carry her luggage.
When I arrived at the airport, I met up with the porter service manager who had a walkie talkie and would update me on the status of Jenny's arrival inside.
The way the arrival's lounge is set up is that there are long rails along the path from people exiting the baggage claim to where people are waiting (behind the railing).
My goal was to infiltrate the railing barrier, intercept Jenny as she was walking through the sliding doors, and catch her totally off guard for maximum embarassing exposure! Again, friends from work said I might get arrested so I asked the manager I was with for help and she was actually able to set this up with the security on duty!!!!
Well, I waited and waited and walked through how it was going to happen in my mind hundreds of times...minutes seemed like hours, and finally I saw my Jenny!!!!!
I could see her expression; she KNEW something was going on, with the special treatment she received inside and when she saw the manager pointing to a spot for me to stand, that was it!!!!
When I got on me knee, Jenny started to repeat, "NO NO NO NO!!!!" (which I assumed was for her to say, NO NOT HERE, NOT NOW!!! Luckily, I was right!) and as I said "Jenny," when I began to pop the cheezy question, before I even started, "wil--" she's saying "YES YES YES YES!!!!!" Poor sweetie just wanted it to end, but I loved every second of it!!!!!
And as I slipped the ring on her finger, the whole audience of people waiting behind me in the arrivals lounge clapped and cheered, and one of the most precious memories of my life were etched in my head!!!!
Sorry, no pictures...this moment was only for the two of us (and the rest of the 100 or so strangers in that hall).
