[trance] Xelphore - Sunbath (full 256kbps)

It was originally supposed to be a melody for violins, but then I tried turning it into trance just for the heck of it, and this is the result. I know that lag at 2:20 with the bass string sounds empty, but I was trying to find something to put in there but couldn't think of anything good. Didn't want to remove it because I ended up growing too fond of it

Like it. This has anthem potential Expand on the element you had @ 2:10 sounds like a harp or something... Forget that, don't change a thing maybe a bit of phazer and panning on the strings to give it a spacey feel.

Pretty good, I like the progression of elements. Some of the mix sounds a bit dry for my tastes, but that's a matter of preference. Overall, nice melodic trance, very somber, relaxing.

What do u use to compose?

Thanks for the comments.

That guitar in the breakdown sounded good when I first put it in, but the more I hear it the more I hate it's melody. Might have to tweak that a bit.

I'm glad you guys liked it - I was a little worried the transition into a trance version would make the melody sound too cheesy.

gapaga; I used fruity 5, along with lots of instances of the vanguard synth (including the main lead), a few sytrus here and there for touchups (and the bassline itself is a sytrus), and some soundfronts.

Didn't notice that. I'll have to try listening to it on more sound systems. Thanks for pointing it out though. It should be noted that I have a strange obsession with liking my kicks strong and sharp.

I'm always surprised with what can be done with Fruity. I too use the little proggie that could. v5.0 is the mother of all versions. Vanguard, I gotta look into that vst to see what it can do. Sytrus is the bomb!

- some nice fx
- that bassline and note change is kinda too standard
- i like the subtle guitars in the break
- add some background driving sfx to the break
- give more attention to the percs
- build in the break is pretty nice, but tweak it just a little more
- strings sound nice, but overall the song seems to be missing a lead. maybe try gating the strings for starters.

I updated a couple of things. Tried gating the main lead, but I didn't like it, so I just left it as is. I guess it's just a matter of taste (thanks for the suggestion though). Added a couple of subtle things here and there but nothing too noticable (couldn't really find all that much space in the mix). The guitar melody that was bugging me has been changed (now it plays along the same notes as the pads right before the breakdown). Added some background ambience to the breakdown (waves hitting the shore, wind, seagulls). Slowed the track by 2 bpm (now it's at 138). Reduced the volume of the kick a bit to bring out the other elements (it was a tad too strong anyways).

new version:

I think I might leave it at that.
