I have a pair of second hand Technics m3ds and I noticed that when the pitch lock is off, the zero pitch is somewhere around -0.5%. Also, the -3.3% strobe dots are stationary at -4.1% on the scale, but the +3.3% and +6% seem to match the scale just fine. Does this mean there is something wrong with my pitch slider or is this something I shouldn't be concerned about?

Buy a new pitch fader thingy or go get it recalibrated

I actually recalibrated the pitch a week ago. And I don't want to spend the money on new pitch sliders unless it does need to be replaced cause I'm poor .

I have a brand new Technics MK5 I bought 2 days ago and the strobe lights are perfectly still somewhere around +.3 when the pitch lock is off too.

try recalibrating again.

How did you recalibrate it? Did you use a frequency counter? Do you have trouble mixing on your decks?

You need a new pitch fader if you calibrated the zero point and the pitch gain using a frequency counter back to factory specs and it is screwed up again.

i wouldnt sweat it. i've yet to see a 1200 where the numbers on the pitch fader actually matched up with the marked stop speeds of the dots.

i'm not sure. maybe it has to do with the dots, maybe it has to do with the pitch control adjustment. all I know is plenty of decks dont match up (between the dot stops and pitch percentages) like they are labeled and i've never had a 1200 be too "floaty" to spin a good set on... so its all just fluff to me.

I recalibrated it according to this website: http://www.mio.co.za/printpage.php?id=238. I also looked at a few other websites and they all pretty much had the same steps. As for mixing, it doesn't bother me and I can match beats fine..so I guess this isn't anything to worry about. Just for future reference, does anyone know how much it costs to get your decks serviced?

If you can mix fine I wouldn't worry about it. Techs you will find at venues will have the same type of problem going on. They're all usually off a little bit.

This is indeed a pitch fader which is slightly off scale. You can adjust this pretty easily by twisting the potmeters (what's the english word for that?) on the pitch fader's PCB.

I don't think it will bother you much while mixing though. I suggest you leave it as it is
