Paul van Dyk switched to Scratch Live

This might be old news to some but PVD switched to Serato Scratch Live. I was pretty shocked when I saw him rocking it tonight. Got a few crappy cell phone photos to prove it...

I know this was posted to rane.com over a month ago but I don't see it out here. So SSL is offically cool now I guess. ;-)

This I didn't know. Interesting to hear his reasoning on doing so from Final Scratch, especially with FS2.0 released now.

Are you supposed to use real records on it?

The Serato/Rane guys acted as shocked as everybody else on the forum to here at he was using it. There were joking that they should try to get him to wear an SSL shirt. It could be a front but I really doubt it.

I really don't think Paul is getting paid to use it. Actually I think he probably paid for his copy. Yeah I know Rane would probably give him one if he asked but I don't think he'd try to scam a < $400 item. But I never thought he was getting paid to use FS either. It's possible but if he was really getting paid I'm pretty sure they would have some more official announcement about it. A silent endorsement just doesn't seem likely to me.

Either way it doesn't really make a difference. SSL is an awesome product. I'm a big PVD fan but I went with SSL cause it works. I'm sure many others did the same. My hope is that it becomes the standard just like the Technics/CDJs so that I don't have to mess around with setting it up. That would be great. :-)
