CDJ 1000 MK2s or CDJ 800s plus two Technics 1210 MK5s

Okay i've been thinking today...if I should either get the CDJ 1000 MK2s and save up later for another Technics 1210 MK5s (haha i just had some but took them back last week..stupid) and CDJ 800s. I mean it would cost me approx 2,200 for the CDJ 1000 MK2s...just them (if I were to only go CDJ...which i've thought about doing) or go CD and Vinyl (since i do have 140 records..I just can't afford that much vinyl really...with all the songs I want). I'll have the money for all this in about two months so whichever is the wisest choice. I am wondering what other people think?

the real issue here imo is...

is he really gonna keep buying vinyl?

yes i love vinyl, and if i had the money, i woudl keep buying vinyl. ever since i [reluctantly] got cdjs, i cannot stomach both the waiting time for shipments, and especially the price anymore... atleast not until i have too much money and dont know what else to do with it. for now, i have to save. but this may just be me... any other thoughts?

the thing about cds is that even if you are going through a bad patch financially you can still enjoy the music (if somewhat non-legally) if you so wish to.

i personally still buy vinyl of tracks that i like and get them sent to a mate who rips them to wav for me, so im still supporting the good music.

Yeah I think I could get the CDJ 1000 MK2s first, after thinking about it last night. I mean I don't have that much room for even two turntables and two CDJs right now, unless I were to buy some fancy custom made table. I could probably fit one turntable on my table that I use for mixing, so I could use that for ripping my vinyl, but I wont be able to get it until around Christmas time, since I get money around then from my grandma and other people. Haha if only I had more space...thats my biggest hindering point.

i would get turntables and the 800s. From the posts that you have been putting up, it seems that you are looking to be precise with your mixing and are really interested in the wav display. Unfortunately, the wav display is not very good from what i've heard and if you listen to your tracks and get to know them you'll know when the break downs and stuff are coming up or you can use traktor and visually see when the song breaks down and stuff and write the information down. Also .05% pitch adjustment is pretty accurate i don't think .02% is worth paying several hundred more. Also ripping vinyl will require you to have a good soundcard and recording program i record my sets and they sound awful even with a sound blaster and m-44 G cartridges. as for space, you should postition your turntables battle style and then have your cdjs on the side somewhere and when you want to work with them you can put them on top of the platter i see clubs do that

Thanks, I am still deciding though. The battle style thing, i've tried, it is even something i've thought about. I haven't tried it at my house but at Guitar Center, they had a few turntables like that and I just didn't like it that way, esp having to reach over to change the pitch and constantly move things around. I think what I might do is get the 1000 MK2s, becasuse I will NEVER have to upgrade, and with the 800s, I may want to in the future and it would cost me more to do that in the long run.

I need to either buy a new table or reorganize my sister's room. Haha my mom still wants to keep her white wicker furniture. She's been out of the house for like three years and it just sits there..cluttered. If I had the money I'de buy a new carpet in there, and new furniture for mixing but all that costs money too and I doubt my parents would want to help me so right now I'm stuck in my room with a kind of ugly white table for mixing at the foot of my bed towards my closet. I could move my dresser and such but I don't think I'de want my stuff sitting by the window, esp records. I think the spot where it's at is the safest, considering it's far enough from the sun and the air conditioning/heating vents near my dresser/desk.
