Voice trick, how to?

Ok, there is a song from an iPod commercial and a few other songs that I have heard that has a voice effect that makes the guy sound like a robot. Whenever I hear it, I feel an urge to dance. I start poppin', cant stop myself. I cant think of any way to describe it as kind of a buzz put on his voice. Does anyone know how to do this? Might there be a convenient VST for it?

No, I am refering to a type of dancing. You move your body in such a way that you appear to pop when you move. Kinda like the robot I guess, but better. Anyway, the sound, vocoder? I will look into that, anyone else?

That was most definitely a vocoder. It takes the vocals and makes the synthesizer 'speak'. That's why you usually get that robot sound. Try doing it with big chords and a good synth.

But it has many more impractical uses as well. I find it's a great thing to experiment with.

daft punk - technologic

they use that for an iPod com.. is it that track? If it's that track, it's most probably not a real voice and a vocoder.. it's probably a text-to-speach kind'a thing.. like whats in frutiy (albeit with effects on top)

just a thought
